Bush Planned in 1999 to be Wartime President

by Dave Konkel [Moderator] / October 31, 2004 8:30 PM PST
Writer says Bush talked about war in 1999.
(Chronicle login: semods4@yahoo.com; pw = speakeasy) The source is a Bush supporter, btw...

And far from being a "uniter," Bush's comments showed he planned to use the political capital gained from being a "strong war president" to push his right-wing agenda:
>>"He said, 'If I have a chance to invade Iraq, if I had that much capital, I'm not going to waste it. I'm going to get everything passed I want to get passed and I'm going to have a successful presidency.' "<<

Kerry camp is getting desperate. Now spouting drivel.
by Kiddpeat / October 31, 2004 9:28 PM PST

I imagine there's a large supply of people who claim they are 'Bush supporters', but turn out to have an ax to grind. Things must be getting desperate in the Kerry camp to dredge up such drivel in a left wing publication on the eve of the election. Do you always repeat unsubstantiated allegations Dave?

Hi, KP.

I can tell from your reaction that you didn't bother to read the story. It's based on tapes from an author who's upset that they were released -- not at all the statemnt of a disenchanted former Bush supporter, as you surmise. Incidentally, the author in question is not usually a political writer -- he's best known as a sportswriter.
