Burning WORLD CUP GAMES to DVD?

Aug 11, 2006 10:35AM PDT

I burned the FIFA World Cup games to dvd, using roxio, and nero, and burned them to DVD-R,I tried playing them on a playstation 2 and they didn't work it said it couldn't read the disc, it works on my computer though, I tried severl DVD of mine, one worked, but the others didn't they were all of the same, brand.
What could be the problem, I thought ps2 could read DVD-R and DVD+R

Widely discussed.

As a matter of keeping the noise level down I won't duplicate the easy to find discussions about playing recorded content on the PS2 but will note that it's well discussed. Maybe they'll fix that in the next model.

Your problem sounds like bad media. What brand of disk are you using? My son has a PS2 and there are certain makes of dvd that it will not play. I have the same problem on one of my dvd players. I suggest you try different types of dvd and of course buy the good makes. Check out this site http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/index.htm
it gives some good information on media.

There are two types of Maxell, one made in Japan and one made in Taiwn. The ones from Japan are much better.
Your PS2 may not like this disk that you are using.
Have you tried these disks in other dvd players and do they play?
See if you can try a different media.

See, I figured I'd buy the PS2 so I can use as a DVD player as our old is not working, but then when I find out it won't play these discs that I burned my decision quickly changed. I realized that I need a modification cip, that voids the warranty but allows you to play burnt discs therefore also burnt games, too,YEA!!!. But since the manufaturers warranty applies for 2 years, I still have to wait.
