To sidestep all that, I installed the following. I'll share the prices I paid too.
1. USB 2.0 PC-Card 39 dollars.
2. USB 2.0 DVD/CD enclosure 45 dollars.
3. 4X DVD all format recorder. Sale at 79 dollars. Included software.
With that I can edit then create the DVD on either DVD-R or DVD+R media. I currently use DVD+R/W for test media since my DVD player plays that.
I was wondering if it's possible to burn video after I've edited it on my laptop direct to this Pioneer DVR via it's DV input. I tried using a firewire cable and it did not work, and the manual suggests it only accepts DV camcorder input. Or do I have to edit it, then export it back to the camcorder and then burn it to DVD from there?
