Resolved Question

BURNING SOFTWARE

Nov 12, 2011 1:35AM PST

Hi,
I always have problems burning dvd's, I have used various free software programs, While some initially work, They eventually screw up or they cut out your options to force you to buy the product.
Any suggestions,?? Or should I "bite the bullet" and buy software like Roxio,??? Thanks.

Free is nice, sometimes, but who supports the program?

If you're serious about burning, buy a program & stay away from the free, nearly free or hacked versions.

Nero isn't the greatest, but it's good for nearly everyone. Which is why it's popular.

Roxio is another that comes to mind, but I haven't used it.

For the real stuff, I use DVD NeXt & have for years. Yes I use their ultimate version, & it costs more, but I want playable copies, all of the time.

It depends on what your skills are. I'm working on a movie now, & will burn it using NeXt, even though the software has a burning program with it. To duplicate those (my own) movies, I do use Nero, if only because it's supported on two computers, giving me 4 burners.

Bad discs can be many things. A chintzy program is only one of them. The wrong disc & the wrong speed are the main two. When all else fails, slow down. Even if you're computer is up to speed. Videos are very hard on computers.

I hope this helps you. If you really have your sites on Roxio, than go for it. Do a Roxio vs Nero search 7 see what comes up for reviews. Every program has good & bad points.

<span id="INSERTION_MARKER">I've been using Ashampoo Burning Studio for many years now with no problems. I'm using the current Version 10 now, but their older Version 6 is now free. Go to their ashampoo dot com website and click on downloads. When installing, you'll need to read through the setup steps carefully to avoid pre-checked optional installations of their toolbars, etc.
