Burning smell

Hey everyone

am using a HP Pavilion DV7 I usually have it on all the time and never had any problems with it before till earlier today.

Its started to smell like it was burning but the laptop its self was not hot or overheating at all. Not sure what to do, the fan is working and I leave a lot of room around it to get some air. Can someone please help me out and tell me what i should do to fix this.
