burning music from cd's placed in iTunes

Dec 25, 2004 4:48AM PST

I need help trying to burn music in my iTunes playlists that were not purchased from iTunes. When I click burn it deselects the items not purchased. This is not illegal music, it is music from cd's I have purchased.

iTunes is not an endallbeall music center. You'll want to use your other CD creation software for that.

Excuse my ignorance, but this is the first time being on this forum thing & I have no idea what your reply meant. If you are asking how I got music in my iTunes that was not purchased via iTunes; the answer is cd's that I have purchased like at Best Buy, Wal-Mart , etc. I save them in iTunes. Then I like making mixed cd's. If you could elaborate on "how to for dummies," that would be great

To create a mix of iTunes and my CDs I have to do some elaborate dancework. Here goes. And iTunes is only a step in the process.

1. Create a CD with the iTunes tunes.
2. Rip that CD back to MP3s.
3. Create a new final CD with MP3s from step 2 and from my collection. iTunes is not used for steps 2 or 3.

Works.

In iTunes go to : Edit: Preferences:Burning and select "Audio Format" against "Disc Format"
Leave the "preferred speed" as "Maximum Possible" and a 2second gap between tracks. Leave the other boxes empty.
When you burn your selected tracks they will all be converted to the normal music CD audio format by iTunes. There are a number of excellent refernce books relating to iTunes retailing at 25USD or 17UKP. Just Google "iTunes" for books.
