Burning downloaded movies onto dvd

Nov 23, 2004 6:31AM PST

Burning a dvd from a disc I have no problems, but i have downloaded a couple of movies from the net and i am unable to burn them to disc.
1 is a quick time movie and the other is .avi.
For some reason i can't recode them (maybe I'm not meant to)and nero 6 doesn't recognise the files in any form .
Needless to say i'm a novice at this so any help in the simplest of terms would be appreciated.

Hi Angela,

To make a DVD o VCD from an AVI file that you will be able to play in a standalone DVD player you need to encode your AVI file as MPEG1 (VCD) or MPEG2 (SVCD, DVD) with certain characteristics.

To do this you could use basically one program called TMPGENC. Anyway, for a detailed step by step explanation I would go to:

www.videohelp.com

This is an excellent site for video issues, just check the "Guides" section and I'm sure you'll find what you need.
