General discussion

burning data to discs

Dec 27, 2005 11:02PM PST

In the previous thread I asked about burning data to the combined DVD/CDrw on my iBook. I did some checking in the library and if I read it right you need to be a PAID member of .Mac in order to do this. Is this correct?
I paid over $1000 for this ibook and I can't burn my own disc unless its a music cd from itunes? Is Steve Jobs having hard times? Good grief! It would be easier to find an external cdrw.

You read the wrong books

or you read them incorrectly. So, before you go any further into your rant about things of which you have inadequate knowledge:

There is NO price to pay for burning your own Cd's and DVD's. Membership of .Mac is NOT required to make a cd or dvd.
1. Insert a blank CD into the CDRW
2. Choose open Finder from the next dialog box. You can set this as the default action but I prefer to not do this. I sometime wish to use Toast to burn CD's with.
3. CD mounts on the desktop
4. Drag what ever files you want onto the CD
5. Drag the CD to the Trash. The trash icon changes to a Burn icon
6. Answer the next question in the affirmative
7. Eject the Cd
8. I don't see where your problem is. Unless, of course, you are not telling the whole story...Like last time

Good update Peter. Beats reading a boring manual.
Keep them coming! So easy to understand. Nice!
