Your stock compression is usually best at 60 minutes. Move to dual layer for such items if you can't find what works with your video player.
One member used an interesting combo of software. They use a virtual dual layer DVD burner (120% Alcohol) and make the DVD there. Now they run DVDSHRINK to get it down to one single layer DVD.
Since there are so few legal full size videos out there you may only have to do this once or twice so the dual layer media is likely the right answer.

Every Movie I download over 1:45mins Long AVI or MPEG I seem to have trouble burning it on to a 4.7 disc to watch on my DVD player without it Skipping or Digitally Fraging half way through.
