Burning a Knoppix CD

by christy / June 16, 2006 11:25 PM PDT

My system: Windows XP Pro SP2, FAT32.

I have no problems burning a KNOPPIX CD previously - by droping the downloaded iso file unto the project pane at Nero Burning ROM 5.

Recently, I downloaded the new version of KONPPIX, ver 4.02. I dropped the iso file unto the project pane of Nero Burning ROM 6, but what I burned was the iso file itself, not the bootable KNOPPIX CD. What did I do wrong ? I did not remember the special settings required, if any, for the previous successful burns.

Or, generally asking, how do I burn an iso file so that it turns into the "origional" files ? I would have thought the burning program like Nero would have converted it automatically.

I don't have Nero 6 on the computer I'm on today, but there is selection in Nero somewhere for burning an image, which is what you want. Check under File menu, see if it's there, if it is select it, and then browse to the iso file on your hard drive that you are wanting to burn and select it.

Thank you, Sheila. "Burn CD image" is at the Recorder menu. I have seen that before, but misunderstood - I thought that was for creating an iso image to burn unto a CD ! I have now succeeded in creating a KNOPPIX CD ver. 4. I am typing this via Mozilla Firefox 1.0.6 from within KNOPPIX.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
