Burnin' Problems

Aug 10, 2004 5:33AM PDT

I've been having weird drive problems for about a month now, and posted previously on this issue. After not thinking about it for awhile, I am back at it. The current issue is with my cdr. I installed Nero6, however when I try to burn I get a message saying that the drive is in use by another application. There is no other burning software on my pc. (By the way, I use XPHome) The drive shows up in My Computer as a CD Drive (so does the DVD) and I don't remember if it showed as a CD-R in better days. I have uninstalled, reinstalled and updated the driver. I'm at a loss. Nero seems to recognize it as a CD-R, although it lists an incorrect max write speed. In XP though, in My Pictures for example, the option to copy to disc no longer appears in the task column. Any help would be appreciated- wasn't sure if this counted as a hardware or software problem, so I apologize if I misplaced this post.

In short.

1. The IMAPI Service may still be running.

2. The incorrect speed was noted with a bad batch for CDR disks. I had to manually set that batch to 16X until I ran out.

3. The copy to disk only works if you installed InCD. But I advise against it if you want "reliable."

Thanks yet again Bob. Disabling the IMAPI Service did the trick. As far as the burning speed, my drive is a 48x, nero offered 32x and I can accept that...as long as it just burns. Thanks again...
