Question

Bull Guard Virus Protection uninstall all files

May 27, 2017 9:40AM PDT

Help. I bought a computer with Bull Guard virus software on it. I was able to uninstall it but all the files are still in a c:\windows\program files\bullguard ltd\bullguard folders. I can't remove these, it says I need administrative permissions. I am the Admin. I have tried lots of things to no avail. Btw, I'm a software engineer for HP. There is probably a simple answer, I tend to make things more complicated that they really are. I have Norton 360 & MalwareBytes, I don't need BG or want it. Thanks for any help. Jay

Yes, I did thank you, It ran for hours and the files folders still remain, and I unchecked the box for keep settings, I have tried a lot of things, even going to the command prompt and going to the directories and using old fashioned DOS commands !

As Kees noted you use your commands to take ownership, change NTFS attributes, SAFE MODE and of course a Linux boot disc or USB.

I don't have to remind you as a programmer that there is no God in Windows. Even admin accounts have to obey permissions. For God mode I boot up one of my many Linux on USB sticks.

As a software engineer, you no doubt know how to boot into a Linux distro and delete everything you want on the Windows system drive from the Linux file manager.

I never thought of Linux, and I'll try safe mode too. Thank you.
