building an engineering desktop...component help

Oct 7, 2010 1:33AM PDT

Alright,
I want to build a new desktop workstation for running engineering programs such as solidworks and catia. I need help picking components to get the best bang for the buck. I would like to spend around a thousand dollars for all the hardware. I will be running windows xp 64 bit. let the suggestions fly...

A nice i7 CPU and a video card that Catia supports?
