Building a nice affordable gaming pc

Hey guys I need some ideas to build a good gaming pc ..
I have budget around $900-$1200 and I want GTX 970 is my gpu .. so what do you guys prefer ? Whats the best build you guys can come up with around gtx 970 with ?

Any i5 or better. Parts from the usual lists or better yet, copy someone's working collection.

Tip: Avoid those 120GB SSDs. I'm losing count of folk that are whining about the small C drive. Get the 240 or larger or don't whine later.
