I have sbc dsl and it isn't bad. But depending on your area, that can be a pretty standard practice. Often buildings don't want wires for a bunch of different groups all over the place. In some places it is illegal to prevent people from making their own decisions, but many places allow the building mangagement to make a decision.
here is my dilemma. i live in an apt complex in plano where we have been forced to use SBC DSL as the choice for broadband internet. can't go with comcast either (at least this is what i am being told at the apt office). i tried getting verizon for the dsl provider, but when the verizon tech guy inspected the connections and so forth, he told me that SBC pretty much screwed everyone in my building and they are not allowed to mess with another company's connections. so i am assuming that if i call someone else (like earthlink or another provider), i will get the same result.
so my question to you all, is this a common practice for apt complexes to do (forcing their "habitants" to use one provider and one provider alone) and can anyone (in the big d area) please provide me with another option for broadband internet. i have heard bad things about SBC services, including from the Buzz Out Loud podcasts. thx for your help.
