Question

Budget phone suggestion for £250 ish

Jul 2, 2018 12:40PM PDT

I've had a moto g4 for the past ~2 years, and it's served me well, but the speakers have failed on me, along with the GPS being patchy (i tried to replace them with no luck), and I think it's time to get a new phone.

Current carrier is giffgaff and priorities would be 1080p screen min, along with the phone being atleast as large as the g4. Additionally, i'd prefer new for a phone, but certified refurbished would do (any possibility of fitting an old pixel or something in this budget??)

I'm budgeting between 200 and 250, and as much as i'd like a flagship model, i don't think i have use for it, nor do i want to spend that kind of money

I mostly want to use the phone for spotify, reddit, messenger and snapchat, and i'm considering trying out pokemon go again

So far i've been looking at the moto g6/ g6 plus, but i can't decide whether the plus is worth the extra money, and i'm not sure the G6 will last as long as i'd like

I've tried to look around for other models, but i wondered if you guys could point me in the right direction/ make some suggestions Happy

As a Moto g5 plus owner.

It's been great. I would have a hard time justifying changing phones today. Why not another Moto?

Admittedly i've loved the G4, I got it for around 150 2 ish years ago and it's been great other than the speaker dying and lock buttons falling off a couple of times. And that's why i'm considering it as an option again, I just want to get the best value for money, and if another brand offers better, i'll happily switch Happy

It's a hard problem. Why?

Deals come and go and prices are not stable so there's usually no one here outside of spammers that pop in to tell you what to buy. CNET does have a few pages on best phones of 2018 if you want to check them out.
