Question

Budget Laptop that can game

Jan 21, 2015 2:54AM PST

I am looking for a laptop, but have a very tight budget (less than $200). I want a laptop that is able to play games like Skyrim, Mount and blade, and the like. I have been searching all over the Internet and have found plenty of laptops in my price range, but having as of yet never had a laptop I don't know which would be best, especially where gaming is concerned.

Even used I didn't find a 200 buck gaming laptop.

I even went and looked at console gaming and exceeded your budget. Where did you get this 200 dollar gaming laptop idea from?

Not gaming, just gameable

In not looking for an actual gaming laptop just a budget laptop that has the capability to play games like skyrim and such.
I have found many laptops in my price range that have a bit of ram and 2 or more GHz but being one of little computer know how I don't know exactly what it actually takes to run these kind of games, or if it is even possible on laptops within this price range.
My research has found many people saying that some lower end model laptops can play games like these I just don't know which ones exactly.

I see $200-300 laptops in for work all the time.

They are pretty disappointing on all fronts as they are not made to be fast and the quality is also lacking. It would be like going to a car dealer and wanting a Corvette for the price of a Cavalier. It just isn't going to happen.

For that price you will get an AMD E-series APU or an Intel Celeron or Pentium Dual Core if you are lucky. None will have very powerful onboard graphics and discrete graphics are never included in something like this.

Also, if you get something like this and think you might be able to upgrade the CPU down the road, many of these low end units have the CPU soldered onto the motherboard so you can't upgrade them.

These budget systems like this are the worst thing that has happened to computers. I get so many people unhappy with them and want to upgrade them but it is either no possible or costs more than the unit is worth so they have to buy another one. Many also seem to die off not long after the warranty is up. Wal-Mart, black Friday, and other cheap deals are too good to be true. Wal-Mart in particular dictates the prices at which vendors can sell them product. This means that the low price takes consideration over quality, speed, and everything else. Many even have Wal-Mart spec model numbers.

That may be not possible for just 200 dollars to buy good cheap gaming laptops.
If you are not a professional gamer, and play games just for fun, I suggest you to consider about gaming laptops under 500 dollars.

Correct.

You won't find a "gaming" laptop for $200 unless you play tic tac toe, solitaire, and minesweeper. I get people wanting a cheap computer "just to play games" and then have to tell them that I custom build units for people that cost $2000-4000 "just to play games" so they need to clarify what they need.
