Take the hard drive out, buy an external case, plugin hard drive to another computer and move data off.
The hard drive is just screwed in with probably 2-4 screws, take those out, unplug the 2 plugs, plugin to external drive (e.a. http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/NexxTech-3-5-Hard-Drive-Enclosure-NHDE35/sem/rpsm/oid/150789/catOid/-18021/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do) and that's it. Unplug the PC before doing anything. That's the easiest and safest way.
I am at my wits end here. One computer is so infected with malware it wont start up. Trying to access it in BartPE and transfer some files I need before reformatting. About 2-3 gigs worth of stuff. I have a crossover ethernet and a USB, but the USB does not appear to be a networking cable. I have no idea how to set up a network in BartPE so that I can access it via the crossover. Do I have any other options? I don't really know how to take the HD out and even what I'd do after that (external HD reader?) Any tips in any nature is greatly appreciated because at this point I'm just blindly swinging.
