You write you got BSODs at 6 months. That's well inside the warranty. Didn't you call it in and get it on record so you wouldn't have to fix it yourself?

I have a bad feeling that you didn't report the errors and are now out of warranty with no record it failed inside the warranty period.
Let's hope you have these failures logged at dell.

I bought my Dell laptop last November 2008 and its doing fine until about 6 months after I started to experience blue screens. I reformat the laptop this December 2009 but the blue screens still shows.
Here's the specifics:
Inspiron 1318
Windows Vista Home Basic
2GB RAM
Blue screen error details (these are the last 3 errors):
