BSOD on XP Install

by swimpc / October 18, 2006 8:42 PM PDT

I keep getting a Blue Screen of Death (BSOD)
Stop Code: 0x00000024 and "partmgr.sys"
everytime I try to re-install windows XP on
this "Gateway" Model 700XL
The HDD is a Western Digital 120GB
CPU = Intel P4
MOBO = E210882
RAM = 512MB PC800 rdram (rambus)
I have changed out all ribbon cables, I have
removed every PCI card (except VGA Video card)
I have run memtest86, microscope v12 & many Hard Drive tests and they all come up fine!
I've set the BIOS to "Default".
I have tried to re-install over 10 times so far!
The BSOD happens the same spot everytime during the
copying files part.
Can someone please tell me what I need to do to finish
this re-install??? I'm about to lose my mind!!

The Partition Manager is having troubles doing it's job. .

Try reinstalling again but this time wipe all partitions from the machine before reformatting the drive.. It all can be done by placing the Windows XP CD in the drive, restarting the computer and booting from the CD..See the link below for instructions and pictures:

If repartitioning the drive and reformatting doesn't work, then the hard drive needs replacement. There are probably damaged sectors that can't be fixed.

Hope this helps.

Try the WDC "Data Lifeguard" SW. If the drive tests OK...

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
