Mar 30, 2016 11:18PM PDT

Hello everybody. For the second time this week I've experienced a BSOD during video playback.

I don't know how to post the relevant BlueScreenView information here, so I'll just start with this. If you need any more information, please let me know.

Thank you so much for your help Happy

Clarification Request
are you running a GTX graphics card?
Mar 30, 2016 11:25PM PDT

If so, then get the latest drivers installed for it.

Nope, I'm running an AMD Radeon with the newest driver.

since that 760 popped up in the errors. Have you opened the dump file to see what it says? Obviously some driver is having a conflict with windows kernel file, but the *.dmp file should have some clues in it. Open in a text editor like notepad.

Binary

Is it normal for the .dmp file to be binary? It just shows unreadable text when opening it when an editor.

Yes, if the dump file is a memory dump, it's binary, just like the memory. It's only for internal use with Microsoft.

So should I still post it here?

You could post it on a Microsoft forum.

Here, I've never found a dump file to lead to a solution. Three are folk that think it does but in decades, I never found the cause with a dump file.

there's clear text near bottom of a dmp file that gives a clue. Not always. Even binary files have some clear text in them at times. You can also download a hex editor, or use one online to convert the file. Here's an example of me using Bless in Linux to examine a binary file called "gdisk". Right clk and choose "view image" for larger version.
