Browsers not functioning after visiting a site

Jul 10, 2004 4:06PM PDT

My IE, netscape and mozilla all work fine when i surf any site, until i visit friendster, which does not load up correctly sometimes, even when it does, after a couple of pages, i get connection refused from netscape and mozilla and some dns server problem with IE. Its fine after i reboot, and everything works fine til i go back to friendster again. I've run virus scans and ad aware several times and nothing is found. Can anyone help?

1. What is unique about your system such as programs run in the background?

2. Please note that just above the text editor (where you enter a question on the forum) is the following paragraph, and if certain information is not present in your question, our reply may not be very helpful:

Tip: If you are asking for help to troubleshoot a computer-related problem, please be sure to include all the necessary information (ie: operating system, model number, hardware, software, etc) that will help others identify your problem for a speedy resolution.

D. Can anyone help?

Not until we're properly introduced to your computer and we know exactly what the problem is and with what.

I would not go back to friendster again. I work with public access computers, and have found that some websites cause nothing but problems.

Checked the site. Logged in. Not interested in their services so just checked some of the links. Did this several times. Mozilla 1.7,Netscape 4.79 and IE 5.5 all work as they always have. . Therefore am assuming you are doing something unique to you or running some kind of software other than your browsers which is causing the problem. Just what that might be is impossible to say with the meager information you provide!

OS- windows XP
IE: 6.0
error message: The page cannot be displayed.
The page you are looking for is currently unvailable. The website might be eperiencing technical difficulties or you may need to adjust your browser settings.

I'm running norton internet security with the firewall on, and the antivirus software. I'm connected via a wireless LAN and cable modem.
My yahoo messenger works fine even after my browsers stop responding. So I am connected to the internet. I never had this problem with friendster or any other site before. I've run Ad-Aware 6.0 to no avail. CSWshredder gives a clean report, but spybot S&D reports 5 DSO exploits in the registry, which are not fixed by the program (they keep coming up).

What more info do you require?

1. FAQ "The page cannot be displayed."

2. If you install the preview edition of Morpheus version 1.3.3.1, you may receive the following error message which is most likely to occur when you click a link in an e-mail message or when you paste a URL in to the Address bar, [Q321923]:

Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience

3. Download and use "IEFix" - a general purpose fix for Internet Explorer (Win 98/ME/2000/XP):

a. Registers Urlmon.dll, Mshtml.dll, Actxprxy.dll, Oleaut32.dll, Shell32.dll, Shdocvw.dll, [Q281679].

b. Refreshes Internet Explorer using IE.INF method. Note:

"Unable to Install Internet Explorer 6 on Windows XP (Q304872)"

"How to Reinstall or Repair Internet Explorer and Outlook Express in Windows XP (Q31837Cool"

c. Initiates "SFC /Scannow" (Win2K&XP), [Q310747].

4. The article [Q308446] discusses the behavior that when you visit some Web sites, a new Internet Explorer window (or in some cases, multiple new windows) may open and the instructions suggest that you disable Active Scripting in Internet Explorer to prevent most pop-up windows.
