Indianpoint,

Things to try (I wouldn't leave this on your machine, even if you decide to turn to Mozilla as an alternative browser):
- run spybot and housecall.antivirus.com
- go to the Viruses forum and tell more; if it's the about:blank virus they might be able to you how to get rid of it (it's a nasty one)

If both of the above fail you can delete the windows folder and the program files folder (from MS-DOS), and then reinstall Windows, provided you have a Windows 98 CD and all drivers. That leaves your data intact. But it's a last resort.

And a good advice: think about a backup scheme. If you don't lose your 'important things' due to a virus, you will lose them (somewhere in the future, might be tomorrow) due to the hard disk failure. It's a good idea to spend a few bucks and buy a cd- or dvd-burner to copy your things to.

Hope this helps.

Kees

The Samsung RF23M8090SG

One of the best French door fridges we've tested

A good-looking fridge with useful features like an auto-filling water pitcher and a temperature-adjustable "FlexZone" drawer. It was a near-flawless performer in our cooling tests.
