Question

Brother printer status monitor

Mar 4, 2018 8:12AM PST

I have a brother, HL – 3170CDW printer. I have tried every which way to get the status monitor to work with no results. I double click on the icon on the desktop, and a little busy wheel turns but nothing happens. I've tried to follow the instructions on the brother support page but got nowhere.
Is there someone out there who can give me a step-by-step procedure to get this thing working?
Thanks. Jim B.

Answer
Never found a step by step. Why?

Because folk have very different machines. Some have firewalls in the router, some install a security suite and there's no standards for these setups.

This means it's research on your part to see where this app is being blocked. What's different about your setup from ones that work.

I never installed the Brother software for my old laser printer - let windows look for/install the driver and that's it.
