Question

Broken touch or lcd question

May 9, 2015 5:11PM PDT

So I have an RCA tablet that I broke a while back and am wanting to repair, I broke the screen and know that I most definitely need a new digitizer touch screen, I am just not sure if I need to replace the lcd as well. There is a huge black spot at the part where it broke when I power it on.

Answer
Sounds like both.

Are you sure that repair is cheaper than a new tablet? The RCA I found with google was 99 bucks with a case from Walmart. Parts look to exceed that and a service counter fee here starts at 150 bucks!

Yes I'm sure

Yes the cost of a new lcd is 50$ and the cost of a new touch screen is 20$ the rca I have runs at about 150$ and even if it wasn't that way, I'd still most likely want to do it because electronic repair is an interest of mine.

Then go for it.

An old tech friend of mine shares this wisdom.

When unsure of which part is broken, replace the cheapest part first.
