Question

Broken line of dead pixels along bottom of screen

Jul 28, 2015 9:33AM PDT

Hello.

Since around 14 hours ago, whilst playing a game on my computer, my monitor developed a dead line of pixels along the bottom of the screen. I'd assumed that this was a bug with my computer, and turned everything off for the night. This morning, I woke up to turning the monitor on and seeing that it had retained that line; and my computer wasn't even on yet. I'm 100% sure this is the monitor's problem, not my computer. Upon inspection of the line, it seems as if it copies pixels from above my screen. However, if I set it to a black background, the line will change to a slightly-lighter-than-black shade, and not copy the pixels. Running any sort of dead pixel fixer software only turns the line the same shade as a black background.

The monitor in question is the "Samsung Simple LED 21.5” Monitor with Tilt function."

Now to the real question(s): must I send this to Samsung to get it replaced (not repaired, as I've learned), or will they not take it? I purchased the monitor around January of this year from Best Buy (not sure if they give out the warranty, and if the Samsung warranty still applies), and I assume I could send it in to Samsung. If I must send it, how long would it take to receive a new one?

Thanks,
-Matt C.

Almost all 32 inch and smaller are shipped in for service.

Since this is 21.5 inches it's a safe bet it will require shipping.

As to how long, in the USA dial 1800SAMSUNG and ask.

Warranty. I looked and a new one looks to have 1 year warranty so you should be fine. Only refurbs may be in trouble at the usual 90 days.

Answer
I doubt they are pixels

More likely your screen just reset it's margins and now the bottom part is a bit smaller than the screen area. Look on TV or monitor for a auto setting or default setting button or function that can reset the margins.
