Broadband Problem

Oct 15, 2007 3:38AM PDT

I just go dsl a couple of months ago. Twice now, I have lost my connection. I don't remember what happened the first time. It happened while I was at work. This last time, it happened because my daughter accidently unplugged the computer while we were connected. When we restarted the computer after this happened, I could not get it to connect to the internet. A tech call got me nowhere. They just had me reset up with the connect to the internet wizard. This did not work. They are supposed to come out and fix the problem, but have not made it yet. What I would like to know is why would having the computer getting unplugged cause this to happen. If anybody could answer this, I would appreciate it. I asked the tech guy that I talked to this and he said that he didn't know. Thanks for any help.

turn the power off for everything for 15 seconds. Now turn the power back on.

Restart your computer.

I'm guessing you are using a wireless router.

update the firmware in the wireless router

Broadcast SSID

Use WPA security

No. I am not using a wireless router. I have fiber optic cable all the way to my house. All they did when they hooked up my dsl was to run a cable from the box outside to my computer room and mount a jack on the wall. Then they ran a cable from the jack to the back of my computer.
