Are you still having a problem with this Phil?
Sep 28, 2008 3:59AM PDT

Only they seem OK to me.

Broadband forum, all new posts have the correct New post legend, and everything else seems fine.

One thing I noticed with this new CNET Forum setup. I sometimes had to revisit forums two or three times before they 'caught up' with me, and until then they looked as if I had not signed in. But after a while that cleared itself up.

The latest post "one problem after another by catkenobi on 9/28/08 Shows to have been read as do all the other post in the broadband forum.

It has been a number of days that the legends have not updated or refreshed. The days of last posting has change whenever a new post or thread is added.

Thanks for the reply

Can you try
Sep 28, 2008 4:56AM PDT

logging out whilst you're in that forum, then re-signing in?

See if that solves it.

If not, then I suspect you will need to use some utility like CCleaner to remove all the CNET related cookies on your system, and try logging in again.

Tried the following

Mark

Logged out and logged in and no changes

I had already run ccleaner prior to your suggest so a rerun showed no cnet cookies.

Firefox set to delete cookies when closing browser

I had cnet and forums cnet set to allow in firefox option I removed all cnet cookies from the firefox cookies options

When I reset login all broadband forum legends turned to -> so I had to open post to refresh legends.

Now I will have to wait until a new post is entered to see if this helped

Thanks for the reply

Still OK here.

Hi Phill. I've reported this to Lee, the Forums Admin.

But I can still use the Broadband forum without problems. In fact, I posted a reply here;
http://forums.cnet.com/5208-7583_102-0.html?forumID=16&threadID=310278&messageID=2869207&tag=forums06;posts#2869207
and that was after you first mentioned it.

So I can't say with any certainty that this is a CNET problem.

One other option to try. Can you try this with IE? If you haven't used IE for a while in these forums you will probably have to log in again.

Do you have any problems with other forums, either with Firefox or IE?

Still not working here
Sep 29, 2008 11:30AM PDT

I did go to IE6 and the legends are the same as in Firefox. In other words not changing.

I surf 9 cnet forum sites(using Firefox 3.03) on a daily basis and Broadband is the only one which does not change legends.
One other bit of info this started happening after i used Mark all read.

I wouldn't go as far as saying it is not a cnet problem.
If you will only remember the tracking problem Rick and Curcat are having. I never had that problem yet they have and probably still do.

Please don't ask me to go to IE again I despise using that browser. LOL

OK, I won't ask you to use IE again.

Happy

You may be right Phil. I once had a problem with the forums that only Lee could fix. I can't remember what the problem was, only that it was frustrating. An engineer had reset some sort of switch in my profile and Lee had to change it.

I am expecting Lee to contact you soon, either privately or in here.

Hang in there.

It is set based on each individuals account.

Ray I wonder if you are just reading way too many forum posts Wink

I'm not going to guarantee any rapid response, but I'll forward this issue to an engineer to have a look at it.

Is this only for the broadband forum or for other forums too?

Let me know, Ray.

Thanks!

Lee

Of the nine (9) forum I usually visit only the broadband forum does not change legends. As I said in another post this happened after I had read and marked as read the Broadband forum.

Good point about reading too many post. I will limit my self to reading post by Curcat,Sherlock,Grasshopper, and Cat.Those are the most interesting one on the forums. You owe me one desk chair as I fell out of mine laughing so Hardily.
