I would like to know how to set up my computer so that most
(or all) of the target sites or sites of interest come to me/find me, rather
than me go directly to them.

I would like this to be as comprehensive as possible.

Is such a thing possible? Has anyone here done this?

Thanks.

Answer
It was done. What happened next was.

What happened next was that we started to get more and more ADVERTISEMENTS and other junk.

This is why folk use a search engine for one reason.

Completely Bamboozled...
Jan 24, 2012 5:12AM PST

I had seen this just as I had sent my post, but didn't know what it was, nor how to stop it. This has never happened before, as far as I know.

Can you tell me what happened, and why? It is not something I would set out to do, not having the nous or interest.

Are you asking about all that HTML code?
Jan 24, 2012 7:46AM PST

It happens when you paste from some word processor or web page. There's a trick to that. Click the editor icon to the right of the Happy face and then it will paste plain text without the HTML code.

Avoiding all the HTML code

I am writing this while looking at the cnet text editor. The icon next to this is the toggle view--I think that this the editor & icon you mean...?

Thanks.

Yes, the Toggle View icon. Why did I use Smiley?

Because there are few that will know what a toggle view icon would look like.

Use RSS feeds
Jan 25, 2012 5:18PM PST

Get a RSS Feed Reader and load it up.

yes, this is an option

I commend Google Reader, or to use one of the browsers' built-in RSS readers.

Fully loaded RSS Feed Reader??--& beyond??
Jan 26, 2012 12:49PM PST

Broad questions, but I would like to ask:

i) can you describe for me what fully loaded would be like eg:

*range/type of content possible,
*management issues if any,
*preservation & storage of chosen material

ii) in terms of "automation", what is possible just beyond this for the consumer user?
