Brief week-end review of Macbook Pro:

by Jasmes / May 5, 2006 9:56 AM PDT

Machine is brilliant. Only problems with it I have are:

- I don't like the coating on the LCD's, it doesn't do much for clarity. Actually I hate the coating on the LCD, its really upsetting. I really really hate it.

- No way to set the keyboard backlight to always on. I love glowing keyboards.

Otherwise, its pretty much perfect. It does whine, but I'm quite jaded about computer noise, so that doesn't bother me at all. I'm used to my 11-fan gaming rig sitting next to me at all times, so by comparison this thing is silent.

If it continues, consider a replacement

If the whine continues, Jasmes, consider taking it into the store for a replacement. They are supposedly dealing with such issues, especially over-heating and battery problems with the early batch.

I'm really interested in hearing this noise to see what it sounds like.

The whine doesn't bother me at all, not gonna bother...
by Jasmes / May 5, 2006 10:36 AM PDT

...with getting it switched.

It doesn't really sound all that special... just sounds like a computer does, just with an especially predominent frequency up top.

Unless it is more severe in other units, I think the people who are bothered by it are pansies and/or obsessed with that whole "OMG I spent money it should be perfect in every way OMG!" train of thought.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
