Bridging Through Laptop Help

by VinceHott / January 29, 2014 12:54 AM PST

So my university has Cisco Nac Agent as a security to access there internet. I found a way to bridge my PS4 through my laptop to there wireless. The only problem is that it resets like every 5 mins and i have to disconnect and reconnect the ethernet cable between my laptop for access to continue. Can any tell me why?

Thanks for reading.

Your university IT and network staff. They will know what's up and if they block such by doing such resets.

i dont think it is the network staff is the cause of this happening. The connection is just only good for like 4 mins before i have reestablish the bridge connection. Is there a settings i can change or maybe a software that can establish better bridges?

Then ask them how others make this work.

In reply to: i dont

It's obviously something they would know how to solve either with an ethernet port in your room or some hardware client.

Well thanks for the answer. Even though i dont wont to accept it i guess that could be the problem. Is there a way around the Client using a router on the network and tricking the network into thinking the router is my laptop (ip, subnet mask, gateway...)?

Still they would know this one.

The chances of a student wanting to use a PS3/PS4/Xbox is far too high. They would get this question and have the answer at the ready.

I never read how you bridge now. For example if you used Windows own ICS I would have noted Virtual Router but then you might be using that and I'd be telling you what you already know.
Again, the IT staff knows. Why not ask?

In reply to: yea

I used plain Virtual Router from

What's Plus? Some payware demo?
Again, I haven't tossed out any ideas in case these would duplicate and besides, my bet is the IT knows this question all too well. Why not ask those that know what it takes on their network? It's not as if you are trying to break the rules.

In reply to: Plus?

Actually it knida is as of this year. But Idk. I also tried the plain version but although the signal is broadcasted, no data is being transfer (cannot go to any site possibly bc of the Cisco Nac Agent). Always Thanks
