I have to defer to the product manual for this. As to what happens when the 620 goes down it appears the network goes down until the 620 comes back up.
If you want a mesh setup, time to change all this to mesh routers.
As to entering all the addresses, if this is how the 620 allow connections, then yes you do. Again, we hit the install and setup manuals (I didn't do this since that's your work) and follow the instructions.
Sometimes folk want the MAC address to be the same in a network. The answer is no. Why is in your second or third class on IP networking.
Hello
Im trying to set up a few Engenius units, the ENS620EXT and several of ENH 202. I will be bridging only, with the ENS620 with it's omnidirectional antenna located in the center of the range Im trying to broadcast to also supplying internet to the ENH202s. So I'll be in WDS bridge mode and will have to 'join' the APs using each unit's MAC address. My concern is this. If I link all the 202s to the 620, what happens if the 620 goes down? I still need the 202s to communicate with each other if that happens. So in that case would I need to link all the 202s to each other -using their MAC address- independant of the 620? In other words, would I enter all the APs MAC addresses in all other APs' interface?
Sorry if that's confusing, I'm not a technician. Just looking to save a little money by doing this myself and Engenius is not responsive to support requests.
Thank you
Ken
