Brand new Samsung SD850 monitor problem(?)

Mar 11, 2015 3:39AM PDT

Hi,

I just recived my brand new Samsung SD850 27inch model with 2560*1440 resolution (WQHD).

I am really impressed with it's image quality but I am afraid that my unit is somehow defective.

At the far right side of the panel, (exactly across the right bezel) there is a slight fade to a more blueish tint. (I am sure that this problem has a specific name).

The monitor is placed just right of non-magnetically shielded studio monitors and this tint reminds me the magnetic interference problem there was with CRT monitors. But, when I take the display away of the speakers the blue tint remains. (Also as far as I know newer flat panel monitors don't have problems with unshielded speakers)

Is my unit defective? Could it be normal?

PS. Can't find a review of the display but for example.

Skip down to "Distribution of brightness" at http://www.notebookcheck.net/Lenovo-A10-Tablet-Review.121907.0.html and you see one of the usual issues. Not only does the brightness vary by a lot across the screen but along with it, color.

I never considered this a product defect but a limitation of the technology. Some displays are better than others. Barco did great color control for example.

Maybe false alert

So, finally I didn't require RMA... With brightness set at 100% it was only me and my ''ocd-ness'' that made me think that i had a defective unit...My friends didn't agree with me that it was a problem...

I went at a local Apple Store just to compare my monitor with the more expensive equivalent, the Thunderbolt Display and i was kinda surprised that the Apple Monitor also had a little tint at the corners!!...So, maybe false alert...

Btw the display is gorgeous and compared to an 27inch imac they are really close and with the right calibration they look nearly the same.
