Here's the deal. It's not supposed to void the warranty, but lets face reality. These printers are a fraction in cost of what they were years ago so if you lose a printer, you find that the printer costs not much more than a set of ink cartridges. I don't want to discuss that "it shouldn't be that way".
Next there is some difference in color if you do a photo from one ink set and the other and the truth that no one I know calibrates color so the result is still very good and you can debate which color is "true".
I have yet to see the black ink vary...
The printers are only good for a few years so some will blame the replacement ink for the eventual failure. It's just part of "how it is".

Has anyone had any success with those "brand compatable ink cartridges" out there? If so, which ones? I've always been under the impression that they've had a poor print quality. I don't do much photo printing (only occasionally), but if it's gonna give me a sloppy print-out, I don't want to waste my money.
Any thoughts??
