A strange story, that. After re-reading it I couldn't decide where the main problem was. Implication that NSW child protective services screwed up, but didn't the mother bypass all that by giving the kids to virtual strangers on her own?

The usual finger pointing going on. Hard for me to stop thinking about what the kid's last few hours were like. Sad

A strange story, that.

Hi Doug,

I had the same feeling. Did the child protective services offer up these guys as child care givers or something?

Truly horrific, in any case.

Having digested it a little more, I think a problem was NSW cops not sharing info with agencies likely to make good use of it: CPS might [sarcasm] want to know about long-time suspected pedophiles.

Same things happen here; big city/lack of communication problem. (Does 9/11 come to mind?)

Diane Harrison of SE is a good source of common sense on these things; hope she picks up on this thread.

It seems that criminals also have children. They take a very dim view of those who abuse children.
