Bought wireless laptop and need help please

Feb 25, 2005 12:27PM PST

I have a compaq desktop w/w98. I just bought a "wireless" laptop. I have Verizon DSL with ethernet card. Works great. I have a dell 8200 lap and that also works great with the dsl cable. Laptop was sold as wireless. How can it be wireless? All it has is the LAN card with no mini pc card. How does one computer feed of the other's hookup to the internet and also how does it network wirelessly through the other computer? I know there is something i am just not getting.

For internet sharing, you need
Feb 25, 2005 2:31PM PST

1. install MS Windows Internet Connection Sharing -- But you must have one PC always ON to access the internet.

2. Get a Router, connect your DSL Modem to it, and connect the other laptop and PC to the router, using Network Cable (hardwired).

3. For Wireless, you need an Access Point and a Router (look at www.linksys.com)

4. As for configuration, you might be better to post a new message, or read/browse the forum for it.

Good Luck
