Bought mp3 player on eBay... big mistake right?

Help! I bought an mp3 player on eBay... no brand name on it. I thought it was a Samsung but that was only the flash chip company, not the manufacturer of the player.

I cannot get the thing to work. I have OS 98SE and the manual says to use the software cd to install driver. I did that. Now computer 'hangs' when I try to connect to usb port.

This is a 256 Mb player with voice recording feature.

If I need a new driver, do you think I could find one somewhere online? There is no website for tech support listed anywhere in the manual.

Is this a hopeless situation?
