- When you bought that laptop/netbook, did you buy the documentation/user manual/CD's also? The information you're looking for should be in/on that?
- Can you provide a link to the user manual of this laptop/netbook on the internet? Usually, they are available as pdf-file on the makers site.
- Even easier (for us): can you download that manual yourself to find the answer?

Such an Acer should have come with a fully working OS and one or 2 restore disks for OS and drivers. But maybe the previous owner did only a half restore or used a generic Windows XP CD for a reinstall and forgot about drivers. You never know with used machines.

The best is to start all over with a recovery to factory conditions.

After clicking the link, you need to follow the nifty lil' product tree Acer has set up there, AND then look for the Application tab.
