Question

bottlenecking?

Apr 16, 2020 7:08PM PDT

I recently bought an RTX 2060 Super (upgraded from GTX 1050ti) and I haven't got the fps in game that I thought that I would based on others benchmarks. I frequently get very high power usage even on google chrome and was wondering if something was wrong with my power supply or cpu. The games I've recently been playing are Metro Exodus, Valorant, and OverWatch. However I plan to play more demanding games
Specs:
z270 pc mate
i7 6700 @ 3.4 Hz
RTX 2060 Super
120 GB SSD
16 GB Ram
1 TB hard drive
600 Watt Power Supply

Hi there,
Follow the link attached to the expected benchmarks, I will get back to you soon with a solution. Or it could be an issue with the mother board possibly?

Answer
Chrome and many OSes and browsers do tap the GPU now.

So I think that could cause folk new to that to ask why. I see nothing wrong in high power use during Chrome use. Can you reveal why that is a problem?
I'll share that we might be able do disable a browser's use of the GPU with the following research. Head to Google then type in this:
"Disable hardware acceleration in Chrome."

As to the FPS your parts lists is not enough. That 1TB HDD could have issues which we can spot in the usual Speccy and maybe the Userbenchmark.com results or you could have it connected to displays like some 4K TV or a 144HZ 1080p or 1440p monitor.

Supply the Speccy and Userbenchmark test results and let's get started.
