Question

Bose Surround Speakers From Aound 1999?

May 6, 2015 8:54AM PDT

Hello, my father, after about 10 years, has finally decided to fix up his living room that was not used. Everything has been updated, and we just got a XBR65X850B that will arrive on Monday.
Back around 1999 he purchased a 61" Sony and Bose Speakers with a Kenwood Receiver as his surround sound. They are ran through the wall, since he does construction, but now I told him that they probably will not work because everything is digital now.
My question, I know he needs a new receiver, that's non debatable, but is there any way to use the Bose speakers with a new receiver?
Thank you for any help

The old speakers should be some number of Ohms and Watts. The Watts has been discussed to no end but Ohms is what it matters. Check the speaker ohms to what your new receiver supports. Watts? Again, overdone discussions. If your old system was fine, you don't need to hit the Watts of the speakers...
