BootVis - number of physical drives in the trace file is 0

My system has been painfully slow to reboot for the last few weeks. I've been unable to determine the cause. I've done numerous anitvirus and antispyware/adware scans - nothing found.
From cold start, after a minute or so, I get to the XP Welcome screen, it then takes ~30 seconds for my desktop to appear - after that another 2-3 minutes for all programs to load and the desktop icons to appear.
When I try BootVis to troubleshoot possible boot problems, I get this message:

Number of Physical drives in the trace file is 0
Trace file has invalid system configuration information

I have minimal programs selected on startup. Any idea what the problem might be?

HP dx5150
XP SP3
ATHLON X2 3800
4GB RAM
