Boot Error

Mar 12, 2005 10:51PM PST

When I boot I get a blue screen with the following:
Error 06 : 4f4c : 00005058
File VDD(01) + 00000CDB
Error 0E : 0028 : C16C9CB0

When I restart, I get the normal improper shut down message and ScanDisk starts to run. I cancel this scan and the machine boots properly. I have run a full scan disk and some files were repaired and I have recently defragged. Any suggestions? Is there a corrupt file or something?

Please report that...

You are not seeing this Forum Tip to Forum Feedback. It reads "Tip: If you are asking for help to troubleshoot a computer-related problem, please be sure to include all the necessary information (ie: operating system, model number, hardware, software, etc) that will help others identify your problem for a speedy resolution."

So many are making incomplete posts like yours that I can only conclude that the tip is not showing.

Me Too!
May 16, 2005 4:02AM PDT

I get the exact same error message as you do - "Error: 06: 4F4C: 00005058" I am running Window's ME on a 2000 vintage Gateway desktop. Sorry, I have to do this at work so systems specs not redily available. However, my problem started only when I tried opening my web brouser, Internet Explorer. During a gap in my problems, I was able to download Fox Fire and have been using that as my browser for a couple months now. But, the problem cropped up with that yesterday. I am getting the exact same error message. Can anyone help?
P.S. Someone should have to do hard time for selling that piece of crap Windows ME. Is Microsoft that big that they can get away with it?

...I get the error message (blue screen and "Error: 06: 4F4C: 00005058" message)every time I open a web brower and, thus, cannot get online to download anything. What do I do?

06:4F4C:00005058 = Nothing you can use.

There are a few that expected these error codes to match up with a procedure to repair the error.

-> Nothing could be further from "reality."

Best of luck with your troubleshooting.
