Question

Boosting WiFi signal

Apr 13, 2017 7:24PM PDT

We have roadrunner internet. We have two cabins on our property. One is about 300 feet away from our home and the other is about 300 feet away from the first cabin. Each area is separated by a 75-100 ft. section of woods. Is it even possible to send our signal to the first cabin and then send the signal from the first cabin to the second cabin? If so, what kind of cost would something like this entail?

Now that Mesh WiFi systems are out, you can try to put Google Mesh units about every 50 to 100 feet from here to there. Run power, go solar or such and you have a link.

In modern era, it's easily possible and with the help of wireless network you can send the signal from your house to first cabin and then send the signal from the first cabin to the second cabin. The cost of this type of network varies according to the quality and you can choose the proper quality.

Thank you. I am having trouble finding out what equipment I will need to do this. We certainly aren't tech savvy. No matter how I search, I can't seem to come up with what type of equipment is needed. Much too technical for me. Living in a rural area, I'm not sure where I'd even go for help. I guess I was just hoping someone could say, "For $500 you can purchase Acme Boost 1000 which will allow you to boost your signal outdoors up to 1000 feet. All necessary equipment provided." But again, I thank yiu for at least letting me know it's possible. Maybe I'll find someone locally that can help me. I appreciate it.

Why is it everyone wants to "boost" a signal, but....

....ignore the obvious and cheapest method of boosting reception instead? Have you tried a dual antenna wifi device on each computer instead?

Boost in the country

We are trying to boost our current signal to another area on our property because we cannot get an internet service provider to go to that area.
