Connected my iPod to my receiver via the iPod output to a receiver input. Patch cord with mini-plug on one end and RCA (L & R) on the other end.
I am getting ready to downsize my music system and put my large Yamaha receiver and JVC five disc changer, etc. etc. into storage and use my ipod for music. Does anyone make a book shelf size receiver (or separate amp and tuner) that actually fits on a book shelf (no more than 10 inches deep)with a direct connection for an ipod - and with enough power to drive floor standing 8 ohm speakers. With the success of ipods and MP3 players, it seems to me that there is a market for a compact receiver, and even if the physical size needs to be substantial for quality amplification and heat dispersion - bookshelves are more accommodating to height and width dimensions than depth.
Thank you for your time.
