Question

Bookmarks vs Favorites

I am aware that bookmarks and favorites are the same thing depending on the browser used. I have IE11 but I can't find an item in my browsing history which was put into Bookmark from the website I was researching. Now I can't get back to that website.

Answer
When collecting Bookmarks I find

I find that I need to make a folder in the Bookmarks otherwise I may not find it later if I have a sea of Bookmarks to sift through. History can be unreliable so while a good place to start, it's not stone cold reliable.

Advice only. Make a folder to hold those marks.

Try opening all bookmarks and sort by date? Maybe it's in there.
