BonziBuddy

by bently / February 17, 2005 9:53 PM PST

I just downloaded a new ANTI SPY program from Yahoo/DSL.

I ran it and it found BONZIBUDDY, which I deleted.

Spybot , Ad Aware and MS antispy did not pick it up.

Anyone know what BONZIBUDDY is?

Thanks

Ben

BonziBuddy is SUPPOSED to help you search the web, etc. It's one of the older adware/etc. applications. Be glad you got rid of it.

This is a quote from PCHELL

"What is Bonzi Buddy?
He's your interactive friend and traveling companion on the Internet! He walks, talks, sings, browses and searches the Internet with you. That's according to the website...he's also very annoying."

check and make sure that it doesn't have one of those "childproof buttons" engaged. That is a manual button that is usually hidden so the kids can't find it IF the van is a fairly new one. Also another common problem is that the side door won't open on most of them unless the transmission lever is in park so if you are picking up kids from school or something, you have to make sure that the driver puts the shifter in park before the kids can get into the side door. My experience with BonziBuddy

Hi bently -- Perhaps your new spyware is giving a false positive. BonziBuddy showed up on my system every time I did an online scan with Pest Patrol, while neither my installed AdAware nor Spybot found BonziBuddy. I did not have BonziBuddy installed. Every time I did a new Pest Patrol online scan, the number of BonziBuddy increased in my system. After researching, I decided it was a false positive since my system would have had physical signs of BonziBuddy with such an infestation.

You would be able to tell if this is the case methinks if BonziBuddy returns again after deletion.

Bently: Thats likely a bug in the Yahoo software. I've removed Buddy more than once with Spybot.

Thanks to all...

Ran checks past 2 days and it did not show up anymore.

Appreciate all the advice.

RE: 98 E150 LOCK...I will check, but I think it refuses to unlock when in PARK.

Thanks all.

Check the childproof toggle switch on the door of the van. It should be on the door jam somewhere.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
