things need some work especially when jasons out.. phone calls are the worst culprit where i can barely hear and turn up.. and then get blasted..
I know it's not fair to pick on interns, and that's not my intent. But the quality of one of the more recent BOL's (with Natali at the top by phone talking about her Exchange/iPhone issues) was atrocious. You could barely hear her, and if one turned up the sound to understand what she was saying, one would be blown out by Tom/Molly's responses.
Is there really no qualified tech producer who can run the board when Jason's not there? That's great for Jason; nothing like being indispensable. But the show seriously suffers and sounds amateuristic when you've got a poor intern having to do the audio work.
What happened to Tom running the console when Jason was out? Is this because of videocasting?
You need to get someone else up to speed. And while you're at it, I would suggest having Jason "Normalize" the podcast for consistent levels. Normalization is a common effect in many audio software packages, and would go a long way in creating uniform levels when you're using outside sources such as phoners and voicemails. Putting some compression/gain on the telco line would help, too, as phoners frequently sound low compared to ISDN calls.
Just my opinion, fwiw.
