BOL - 680 : Microsoft says no Blu-ray for Xbox 360

by techmulticast / March 13, 2008 1:06 PM PDT

I do not think integrating Blu-Ray into Xbox360 align with 'Blue Beast' vision of managing your media once (see MIX keynote), unless you can transfer those contents from Blu-Ray to some sort Media Centre like device/system.

I personally agree with the vision that Mr Ozzie present during his MIX 2008's Keynote. User should be able to manage their content once, afterwhich they should be able to use those content any time they want and on any device they want.

Maybe it does not matter how the media/contents are delivered. It might be from 5 pieces of DVD / highspeed download / Blu-Ray / Flash Drive... Those cotent should be able to put into user home 'entertainment' server, for ease of use.

Maybe I am plain lazy, therefore I do not want to get up and switch disc when I like to watch another movie or listen to another album or play another video game. I would like to juz press on my remote and get it. (I do not mind switching disc/manage my contents once)

Come to think of it, I am not sure why HD-Movie are not sold via 5 piece of DVD. All they need is to enable user to 'unzip'/'install' those data into their PC/server. Maybe they felt 99% of their user will not do it. Or maybe their 'greed' blind them from giving us this option. Or maybe they are waiting for some 'software' company to provide those capabilities....

I do admire those visionaries in 'Blue Beast' think tank. They are pretty smart. They study, understand and move their chess pieces well.

Personally I am not interested in Olympic but this time round I will try to go watch it, juz to see how our 'BLue Beast' cast its silver light.

Thanks BOL for all the daily dose of audio tech news and rants loi.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
