Blurring on new Sony 40" lcd

I have just bought a new sony 40" TV which was voted best lcd of 2010.
I currently dont have HD thus I am watching in SD for reference.
The problem is most noticeable when I am watching Sky Sports football and the camera is still,thus this isnt a motion issue.
The grass goes noticeably in and out of focus,it maybe so do the players but that isnt so noticeable.
Is there a reason for this and is there an answer?
