Bluray BP1600 samsung has trouble playing Warner bros. discs

Jul 17, 2010 11:36AM PDT

Two recent blu-ray discs that I rented (Book of Eli and Observe and Report) did not play on my Samsung BP1600. I even got a replacement of O&R, but it had the same problem. Basically, I put the disc in, the previews play, and then once it gets to the movie itself, I get no menu, I cannot get it to play by pressing play. All I see on the TV screen is a frozen image (that disc with a shadow of a disc).
Other Blu-ray discs (e.g., Sony, 20th c. fox) play without a glitch.

Any one have any tips on what to do/try? It is ridiculous to have to skip renting blu-ray discs from WB because of this problem.

And thanks to you..Warners movies work again
Oct 27, 2010 2:24AM PDT

Thank you very much..after sending back Disc after Disc to Netflix I googled your post and solved my issue. Chatted with Samsung just for the heck of it so they know there are irate BD-P3600 owners out there still. 2.05 fixed it for me and Samsung has pointed me to 2.12. I will give it a go some day.. till then.. the downgrade is the upgrade we need.
Thanks again...

Warners problem not quite resolved...

how did you go about downgrading the firmware and where did find the previous versions of the firmware? 2.12 hasn't resolved the Warner Brother issue completely as my Beerfest Blu Ray no longer works after upgrading to 2.12. I'd be interested in downgrading to be able to go back to 2.05 to get this working again.

BP 1590 Samsung Blue Ray not playing WB Blu ray's
Jun 28, 2011 10:19AM PDT

Just bought the new Harry Potter Deathly hollow part 1. I had to Get the latest greatest update which was March 2011 before it would recognize the BD. Then it played the previews and I got the message the disc could not be played. I am about ready to go buy another brand of blu ray player, this is very very frustrating. It will play the regular DVD no prob. This is not the first issue I have had were I had to get the firmware upgrade, but it is the first were it did not work and it is ridiculous. Either Samsung needs to get up to par on the decoding software or the Movie manufactures need to get on par with one type of encoding for the BD. Angry
